Can you imagine summer camp without swimming? We cannot. Please help us as we help the Channel 3 Kids Camp raise the much-needed funds to repair their pool so that they can continue to keep swimming an enjoyable and exciting part of summer camp!
Channel 3 Kids Camp has been bringing children to the country for summer camp since 1910. In 1963 a 24’ by 75’ pool was constructed. Since then, the pool has been the highlight of the children’s camp experience. All campers receive daily swim lessons and free swim. After 55 years of providing summer fun, the pool is in need of major repairs. If these repairs are not made this fall, the summer of 2019 camp will not include a swimming program.
On September 8, 2018, my 23-year-old son Mark and I will fulfill a dream I have had since I was 18. We will embark on a two-week, 3,200 mile ride across the country on the longest Cross Continental Highway in the U.S. on old Route 6. The idea for this trip began with the intent of a great father-son excursion. In planning the event, we decided that this would be a wonderful opportunity to raise funds for a charity. We chose Channel 3 Kids Camp and proceeds from our ride will specifically benefit the Camp’s efforts to raise the money to rebuild their beloved swimming pool. The cost to repair the pool is a big one, over $80,000 and since Channel 3 Kids Camp is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, they need a lot of help in this fundraising endeavor. We are thrilled to be able to help an organization that is local. Children from throughout the entire state of Connecticut attend the camp which is located just off of Route 6 in Andover/Coventry. We want everyone to be a part of this exciting event; throughout the ride we will be posting facebook updates. Follow us at @coasttocoastforkids!
I have shared my story with many people already and have been offered sponsorship for this ride. I want to make it very clear that my son Mark and I are personally paying for all the expenses associated with the trip. If you would like to “sponsor” the repair to the pool in honor of our ride, we would gladly accept your gifts. Please consider making a pledge to our Coast to Coast for Kids Ride. 100% of your donation will go directly to the Channel 3 Kids Camp Pool Fund. Pledges can be made as follows:
1¢ per mile = $32, 5¢ per mile = $160, 10¢ per mile = $320,
25¢ per mile = $800, 50¢ per mile = $1,600, $1 per mile = $3,200
Please consider making a donation by clicking the link or Donations can also be sent to Channel 3 Kids Camp, 73 Times Farm Road, Andover, CT 06232. Please include Coast to Coast in the memo.
