The camp recently invited local historian Bill Jabbogy, to the Channel 3 Kids Camp, to look at some rather interesting and in tact stone foundations. It had long been rumored that one foundation at Camp was that of an old toy factory. After many days of field and Town Hall research, Bill Jabbogy discovered that the site of the camp was crawling with activity from the mid 1800's to the end of the century. There were at least two mill sites on the property and a large paper mill operation just south of the camp. And indeed he did find references to a toy factory on the property that made wooden doll house furniture.
It is our hope to have Bill Jabbogy host a lecture on the findings and obtain some funding to expose and preserve the sites.
Little did we know that 50 years before the camp even opened, its grounds were host to another type of enterprise that brought smiles to children's faces.
