About Harrison B. Freeman
HARRISON B.
FREEMAN
A legacy of compassion links our founder, Harrison Barber Freeman with innumerable Channel 3 Kids Camp supporters today. The compassion of our supporters enables The Channel 3 Kids Camp to welcome children in need from all over Connecticut to our beautiful 350 acre campus in Coventry and Andover.
Realizing that there were hundreds of children in the Hartford area that would never be able to experience a country vacation and all the benefits to their health and well-being that result, the Harrison B. Freeman family, in collaboration with the Union for Home Work in Hartford, began its tradition of providing a summer camping experience for city children at their summer home, the Almada Lodge in 1910.
In 1920, The Hartford Times newspaper assumed full responsibility for the program. In 1931, the Freeman family deeded the property, and the Hartford Times deeded the buildings, equipment and land, to a newly formed charitable corporation: The Almada LodgeTimes Farm Camp Corporation.
Through the remarkable generosity of the public and other funding sources, the camp has grown from serving 20 campers in 1910 to serving more than 4000 children year-round. We have children come to us from all over the state of Connecticut.
Giving Society
To recognize the permanent value of legacy gifts to the Channel 3 Kids Camp, we have created the Harrison B. Freeman Giving Society. Mr. Freeman, the founder of the Camp, cared deeply about children and adults in the city of Hartford.
His legacy of generosity has had an effect on the lives of thousands of children since 1910. Each year your generous support makes our work possible, thank you for continuing this spirit.
Membership
Every year, an outstanding group of corporate and community leaders steps forward to advance the mission of improving the lives of children. By contributing $500 or more to the Channel 3 Kids Camp, these generous philanthropists become champions for our community.
Membership in the Harrison B. Freeman Giving Society reflects a strong commitment to improving the lives of children and strengthening the communities. As a member, you partner with one of the oldest nonprofit organizations in Connecticut. You also enjoy the benefits including public recognition and invitations to exclusive events.
If you have not already done so, we invite you to become a member of this extraordinary group. Join other generous philanthropists in the Harrison B. Freeman Giving Society and take a leadership role in helping children build confidence and achieve their dreams.

Options for Giving
Memorial Giving
Memorial gifts are an opportunity to honor a loved one or mark a special occasion, while making a lifelong difference to a child in need. Instead of a traditional gift, donate in honor of a birthday, anniversary, marriage, or a new birth.
Give a gift in memory of a loved one or in honor of special occasion. Your donation is a special way to recognize your friend or family member as well as the very special work of the Channel 3 Kids Camp.
Planned Giving
What is planned giving? Planned giving allows you to make a gift to the Channel 3 Kids camp now or after your death while allowing you to enjoy financial benefits yourself during your lifetime.
Keep in mind, this type of giving requires some planning, often with help from professional advisors. Unlike cash donations, planned gifts are made from assets in your estate rather than disposable income, and will benefit the Channel 3 Kids Camp after your death
Planned Giving options include:
- Bequest in your will or living trust
- A charitable remainder trust
- A charitable gift annuity
- A charitable lead trust
- An endowment fund
- Retirement plan assets
- Life Insurance policies
Planned Giving is not just for the wealthy, in fact most gifts come from people of modest means allowing them to make a lasting difference to a favorite cause much greater than they could have made during their lifetime.
Contact out Director of Major Giving, Christine Homa at (860) 742-2267 x 108 to learn how you can support our mission for future generations.

Many companies will match your donation to the Channel 3 Kids Camp dollar for dollar! Matching gift programs allow a donor to double their donations value by matching your donation to the charity of your choice when you make a gift to that charity up to a certain amount. To find out if your company matches contributions made to the Channel 3 Kids Camp, contact your personnel office.
Once you have determined that your company does have a matching gift program, you can obtain the needed forms from your personnel/human resources office and send it to: Channel 3 Kids Camp | 73 Times Farm Road | Andover, CT 06232
