Camp Activities

Gardening

We are now offering a formal gardening program that is supported by UConn and the Connecticut Master Gardener Association. The children that choose to be in the Nature Education Program will receive hands-on interactive learning activities taught at our own greenhouse and gardens. They will touch on all facets of gardening including soil, plant life cycle, care, pests, annuals, perennials, herbs, and vegetables. The Gardening Program will also offer special guest visits for the free choice activity after lunch for any child wishing to participate in it. Some interesting offerings will be flower arranging, bugs, indentification of weeds vs flowers, and container gardening just to name a few. We are very excited to be working with this knowledgable, enthusiastic, and caring group of Master Gardeners that are volunteering their time and energy to this pilot program. We thank Uconn for their vision, expertise, and belief in our program to partner with the Channel 3 Kids Camp to offer this opportunity for the children.
