Karen Rossi Closing Reception at the Ethel Walker School in Simsbury -Saturday October 25, 2008
Internationally acclaimed artist Karen Rossi is holding an extensive exhibit of her original artworks and act as artist-in-residence at Simsbury's Ethel Walker School, through October 25. Included in the extensive Bell Library Gallery display will be Rossi's Women of Achievement series, which has never before been shown publicly, along with original mobiles, sculptures and wall art. All original items will be available for purchase.The closing reception for this fanciful exhibit will be held from 1:00pm - 5:00pm on October 25, 2008. Art enthusiasts and community supporters are welcomed to carouse the gallery of Rossi's extensive exhibit, enjoy martinis and mingle with the renowned artist. Proceeds from this event, gallery, and store sales will benefit the Channel 3 Kids Camp. The Ethel Walker School is located at 230 Bushy Hill Road in Simsbury, CT and will be open to the public for this special event.

'Shop for a Cause' at Macy's Department Stores Nationwide Saturday September 20, 2008. Please join the Channel 3 Kids Camp and Macy's stores across the nation for the 3rd Annual 'Shop for a Cause.' This one-day-only shopping event was created by Macy's to support local non-profit organizations like the Channel 3 Kids Camp. December 10th - 4th Annual Joy For The Kids Concert with Scot Haney and Friends, 7:30 p.m - Hartford Stage, 50 Church Street in Hartford. Entertaining, Funny and Delightful Holiday music concert with Scot and his friends from Channel 3, Farmington Valley Orchestra, and the Praises of Zion Choir. Free Dessert reception following the show, and a chance to meet the cast. Ticket prices: $125, $100, $75, $50 available only at the Hartford Stage Box office. All proceeds benefit the camp. Always a sell-out so get your tickets early! You must listen to Scot Haney in the mornings on Channel 3 for the announcement of when they will go on sale.

December 1st - Breakfast with Santa The Channel 3 Kids Camp will open the holiday season with a celebratory �Breakfast with Santa Claus.�

This festive family day welcomes the community to join us at the Channel 3 Kids Camp for an enjoyable breakfast of warm homemade pancakes, home fries, sausage, pastries, fresh fruit, juice and coffee. Seatings for breakfast are 8:00am, 9:30am, or 11:30. After breakfast children will have the opportunity to visit with Santa Claus, share their holiday hopes and pose for a picture. Holiday centered art & craft projects, seasonal entertainment, and Christmas surprises will also fill the day. Advanced reservations are strongly recommended as seating is limited. Sunday November 25 - Celebrate the Season South Windsor at The Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk in South Windsor from 1pm-6pm. This outdoor celebration will take place down the street of the shops and at the village green. Channel 3 Kids Camp will have a table with home made holiday ornaments made by local kids and each will be tagged with the gender, age, and town of a needy child that is looking to attend Channel 3 Kids Camp next summer. People can choose a tagged ornament and instead of purchasing a gift for the child give a monetary gift to help send that child to our overnight summer camp program. November 5th - January 2nd -Channel 3 Kids Camp Holiday Giving Tree - Locations TBD Choose an ornament made by local artists. Each ornament is tagged with a child's age, gender, and hometown. Instead of purchasing a toy, send in a donation to help sponsor that child so they can have the opportunity to attend our camp.

November 4th - Kid-Friendly Family Fun Day - at Fright Haven in West Haven CT from Noon -4pm. Because of the great demand by parents who have attended the haunted house complex in the former Staples building on 480 Saw Mill Road in West Haven, across from Wal-mart, the Indoor Fright Haven "Team of Terror" will turn into the "Family of Fun (and A Little Fear)" so the little ones can go and enjoy the experience. Along with turning on the lights, gone will be the scary music and the menacing actors who portray the vampires and other monsters who jump out of every corner to scare regular patrons. There will be cotton candy, popcorn and face-painting available, plus escorts who will walk the groups through the haunts to explain how the special effects work and where the "monsters" would normally be to scare people. It's like a back-stage tour, both entertaining and informative to the youngsters. This special event will benefit the Channel 3 Kids Camp. Special Thank You to Gillette Ridge Golf Club and all the sponsors, players, celebrites, volunteers, prize donors, and all the Channel 3 talent that came out to the event. August - Villari's Kick-a-thon - students from all 7 martial arts studios in Connecticut will be soliciting pledges for how many kicks they could do in an hour. They students will come to Channel 3 station on Constitution Plaza on Saturday morning and do it live from 8am-9am. 100 % will come to benefit the camp. Kids helping kids!

May - June- Birdies Fore Charity centered around the Travelers Championship Golf Event. Pledge an amount per birdie that will be played throughout the entire tournament. Each pledge gives you a chance to guess the exact amount that will be played and a chance to win amazing prizes. November 11th & December 9th 1-4pm Open Studio at 60 Estey Road in Norfolk CT at Karen Rossi's "Studio in the Woods" Fine Art Gallery. Karen will have an ornament workshop where visitors to the Norfolk Studio will have the opportunity to paint an ornament which can either be donated to the Channel 3 Kids Camp Holiday Giving Tree or pruchased as a momento for visiting the gallery with a minimum $5 donation to the camp.
You may also choose one of the other ornaments that someone had created and left for the Giving Tree. Additionally, the "Summer of Hope" limited edition print that Karen created will be on display and for sale, as well as the tile/trivet that depicts the campfire scene of the print. Karen's beautiful silk scarves and metal pins will also be for sale all to benefit the Channel 3 Kids Camp. Stop by either date for the event is sure to be a fun way to kick off the holiday season and benefit the camp at the same time.
